Mechanical Engg. Department conducted a certificate course on “Finance and Costing for Engineers” under department ++ activity. The course was designed to provide insights and knowledge of an organization from financial perspective for engineering students. This is an introductory course to understand the importance of finance in industry. The course started from 15th Feb 2017 for which there is a good response from all branches of MIT and industry. Total 31 students have registered for the course out of which 6 from other branches of MIT.

A guest lecture on the topic “Multithreading, Exception Handling and Collection Framework” was conducted on 29th March 2017, for SE, E&TC (Div.-I & II) students. Mr. Sachin Ravekar, Project Manager from, Synerzip, SofTech Pvt. Ltd., Pune conducted the lecture. He has been serving Synerzip since June 2011. He is a software professional with 17+ years of experience in all phases of software development life-cycle (SDLC). He possesses high level of knowledge and expertise with tiered J2EE architectures, MVC based web applications, object-oriented design (OOAD). He very well explained the concepts of Object Oriented Programming with simple and easy to understand real life examples. The topics Multithreading, Exception Handling and Collection Framework were covered in details. He explained the students the method for implementing multithreading and how to use the methods of thread class to perform certain operations. He also explained the concept of exception handling in java which is a powerful mechanism to handle the runtime errors so that normal flow of the application can be maintained. He also covered the topic collection framework which provides architecture to store and manipulate the group of objects. He explained that the JAVA collection framework can be used to perform operations such as searching, sorting, insertion, manipulation, deletion etc. on the data by using interfaces already provided by the collection framework. Mr. Sachin Raverkar is a project manager at Synerzip. He made students aware of the industry expectations and what kind of understanding the industry expects from students as fresher’s. He explained them the importance of punctuality and timely submission. Overall the lecture was a great learning experience for students.
Mechanical Engineering Department, Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune, has hosted India’s ultimate auto quiz the “Auto Quotient – Season 8” in association with Mahindra & Mahindra on 10th February 2017. The event consisted of an online quiz to be answered by a team of 2 students. The event was conducted at Computer Laboratory 2nd Floor, Mechanical Engineering Department, MIT Pune The quiz was open for all auto enthusiasts – not necessarily only students from mechanical engineering discipline but any person between 18 to 35 years of age having passion for automobiles. There was an overwhelming response from students from engineering and management streams. More than 300 students participated in the event. This was the first round of all India Quiz competition for Pune and around area. The winner from this round will enter into next city round to be held at Mumbai, then for western region round before entering the Grand Finale at national level. Regional Final rounds and National Finals will be aired on NDTV 24×7 & NDTV Profit. Season 8 prizes range from Mahindra Two Wheeler products to exclusive sponsored Mahindra Adventure Expeditions! Prof. D.P. Hujare( Incharge of M&M – MIT Pune MOU) along with Prof. S.N. Rumde and Prof. G.S. Barpande co-ordinated and conducted the event.
