The ARAI hill is the highest point within the city limits, with an elevation of 2600 ft. There is a temple of ARAI located on the top of the hill from which the hill derives its name. On 24th of December the trek at ARAI HILL was arranged for S.E, T.E, & B.E student by Polymer Engineering Department. Total 70 people including student, teaching staff & non- teaching staff was gathered at 8.00am at polyporch & we started our trek. We reached our first point (Vetal Baba Temple) at around 8.30 & then we began towards our next point Lord Shiva temple (Mhatoba Temple) by walking almost 5km. We reached Lord Shiva temple (Mhatoba Temple) at 10.00am. After reaching to Mhatoba Temple the some of us helped the staff members to make “Tasty BHEL” for all of us. After enjoying Bhel we started the return journey at around 11.00am & reached to the Department by 12.30pm. This activity has helped faculty, staff and students to develop the cohesive environment and healthy relations.
IPI PUNE CHAPTER SEMINAR ON ANALYSIS TESTING AND CHARACTERIZATION FOR POLYMER INDUSTRY
IPI Pune Chapter organized one day seminar on Analysis Testing and Chaterization for Polymer Industry at MCCIA, Pune on 18th February 2016. This was supported by MAEER MIT Pune and fully sponsored by Thermo Fisher India Pvt. Ltd. This seminar was mainly focused on application of different testing techniques for providing solution to the problems faced by plastics industry. Dr S Radhakrishnan , Chairman IPI Pune chapter welcomed the guests and introduced the Chief Guest Prof.N.N.Maldar, Vice Chancellor , Solapur University, to the audience by recounting his contributions and achievements in the area of Polymer Science. Prof.Maldar, in his speech mentioned about the importance of Plastics and how IPI must help in creating good manpower in the Plastic Industry as well as in research and development.

Expert Lecture Series has been planned by Mechanical Department for PG students starting with Expert Lecture on Precision High Speed Dry Machining of Aerospace Materials Dr. Dinesh Thakur, Defense Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune.
Dr. Thakur Dinesh guided the students on design aspects of Dry and Green Precision Manufacturing of Aerospace Component Inconel 718. Precision machining is the need of hour and it is difficult to achieve the required quality. Aerospace material are excellent in strength to weight ratio, but when it comes to machining they are difficult to treat. He also elaborated concept of near dry machining and very limited use of coolants. He has explained thermal aspects of machining
Concept: A two day’s workshop on STARCCM+ (CFD tool) is conducted for the faculty members of MIT Pune on 25th and 26th February 2016. It was organized with the support of our CFD software provider CD-adapco India pvt. Ltd. and Mechanical Department of MIT Pune. The objective of the workshop was to give exposure to concerned staff for the software tool so that they can guide and handle the increasing demand of CFD projects from students.
Participation: The duration of workshop was from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. every day. 16 staff members mainly from MIT & MITCOE participated in the workshop. Presence of staff members from other departments like petroleum, Mathematics was remarkable and encouraging. 10 Masters Students from heat power branch and one from petroleum also benefited from this workshop.
Speaker: The workshop was conducted by the trainer Mr.Nishikant Prabhu from CD-adapco India Pvt Ltd. He is an IISC passout and expert in the IC engine combustion simulations. This subject was interesting to some of the staff members. Along with the theoretical concepts he conducted the hands-on sessions in the workshop.
Feedback: Overall it was expressed by faculty members that it was a very useful and essential workshop.

Mechanical Department organizing Basic Mechanical Engineering Guest Lecture for FE students This guest lecture will give an overall view of recent trends and development in the field of manufacturing technology and focuses on current scenario of manufacturing processing, and machine tools. It offers a thorough and comprehensive coverage of the main aspects of casting, forging, welding and non-conventional manufacturing, with emphasis on major manufacturing processes along with specific applications.

On behalf of Internal Complaints / Women’s Grievance Committee a special session for First year Engineering and M.B.A. students (First and Second year) on the topic “Awareness for Social Security” was arranged on 16th February 2016, Tuesday, in the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium at 1.45 p.m. Representative from the Police Department Sushma Chavan (Crime Branch, Pune) conducted the session. The safety measures especially on Cyber crime and women safety were discussed. The session was highly appreciated by everyone.
Department of polymer Engg. organized a visit to AGA KHAN PALACE and Museum at Kalyani Nagar, Pune, on 10th February 2016(Wednesday) at 10am for SE,TE and BE class students.
On 30th January 2016 at 10.30am IT Department organized a Stakeholders Committee Meeting. An interactive discussion on Revised Syllabus Structure, Student Attendance and Problem Based Learning was took place during the meeting. All stakeholders appreciated plus-plus activities started in the college.
This meeting was primarily attended by the Head of IT Department along with twelve faculty members and representative members from student, alumni, industry and parents body.
